BLUEBELL RAILWAY ARCHIVE
The Bluebell Railway has now been running since 1960 and now has over 65 years of rich history in its own right. The Bluebell archives are extensive and cover timetables, brochures and programmes, as well as other documents and correspondence across those years. The collection includes books, DVDs, posters and calendars featuring the Bluebell Railway, and of course a full collection of Bluebell News and other newsletters published by the railway and its associated groups.
There are also drawings and plans of the station buildings and track layouts dating from the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway (LBSCR), and copies of the Parliamentary plans from Westminster. It also includes original correspondence relating to the closure, reopening and final closure of the Lewes to East Grinstead line by British Railways in the 1950s.
China, glassware jigsaws and other Bluebell Railway produced merchandise is included in the archive, as well as tickets, Bluebell Railway postage stamps and first day covers.
We also hold over 6,000 photographs of the rolling stock, events and people spanning the railway’s history.
The Bluebell Railway Archive can be browsed on site by appointment.
